Our main focus sport is sailing, an inspiring sport that properly activated delivers engaging communication and interaction with stakeholders, while offering a premium content engine and extraordinary experiences for clients, employees and partners. We believe sailing is relevant for brands interested in showcasing values such as technology, leadership, human endeavor, teamwork and sustainability in a natural environment.

EKINOMIOUS mission is to deliver business value for brands through sophisticated sports either via a team participating in an established circuit or sports property, or via an specific tailored-made event anywhere in the world.


Jointly with our clients we develop dynamic marketing platforms that meet and deliver their activation objectives across the board, being brand engagement, image values, hospitality and/or communication and PR. Once created, our aim is provide turn-key solutions to reduce the resources required at our clients' side.

Besides creating and running marketing platforms, we also offer traditional consulting services in all aspects of sports sponsorships for both corporations, rights holders and teams/athletes. Our services range from strategy development, sales & marketing support to rights & benefits packaging, lead generation and contract negotiations.

Team Malizia Ocean Challenge 

Offshore sailing is one of the toughest and most demanding challenges in professional sports - for athletes and their yachts alike. At the same time it is a credible global communication platform for sustainability, technological innovation and diversity - boxed up into thrilling content inspiring millions of people around the world. 

Skipper Boris Herrmann, UN Global Ambassador and overall leader of the IMOCA class ranking, is setting sail to be the first German ever to sail the legendary Vendée Globe 2020/21 and to become one of less than 100 humans ever to orbit the earth solo non-stop on a sailing yacht. 

Boris' aim is to compete on the highest level in the toughest races, whilst using the sport platform to inspire action and change through outreach, create awareness and highlight solutions to the climate crisis. Join us in his quest against climate change and a sustainable life. 

The Ocean Race


Formerly known as the Whitbread Round the World Race and the Volvo Ocean Race, The Ocean Race (TOR) is the prime crewed round the world race. Created in 1973, the TOR has evolved to become an attractive commercial platform for global corporations. Besides high class sailing and human stories from the racing yachts, its main characteristic is the possibility to activate in 10-12 countries around the world via a public Race Village full with activities for corporations and families alike.

EKINOMIOUS has been involved with the race since its 2011-12 edition. Initially as business development responsible for creating an attractive business proposition, signing and managing any type of sponsors: team, stopovers and/or the race itself. We were also commercially responsible for the only US-based stopover in Miami, Florida, and manage the key accounts of race partners Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing and the official timekeeper IWC. 

For the 2014-15 edition, EKINOMIOUS acted as commercial manager for the sponsors of a Baltic based team, and supported top skipper Bouwe Bekking and part of his crew (e.g. Pablo Arrarte, Rokas Milevicius) on board Team Brunel in the search and management of personal sponsors. During the past 2017-18 edition, we were involved with Team Vestas 11th Hour Racing in their sponsor search. 


For the next edition in 2022-23 the race is open for IMOCA yachts. These yachts have been widely used for short-handed round the world and transoceanic races and feature the latest foiling technology. Most importantly, it opens the opportunity to sponsors to activate every year not only through the TOR but also at the classical and top notch Vendée Globe (solo round the world), the mythical Route du Rhum (France-Brazil), the Transat Jacques Vabre, the Barcelona World Race and many more.   


Conrad Colman at the pinnacle of solo sailing

Unbreakable, persistent, no problem is unsolvable by charismatic and upcoming skipper Conrad Colman, who just showed his determination by finishing the pinnacle of sailing, the Vendée Globe 2016-17, solo around the world nonstop without assistance, after dismasting 700 nm from the finish, falling into the water in the Southern Ocean and having a fire on board. His struggle and feat to reach the finish line against all odds was followed avidly by media and fans worldwide: CNN video hereand race recap here


Despite his youth, Conrad Colman is an experienced sailor with an extraordinary business and media acumen. He won the Global Ocean Race 2012, finished 7th at the Barcelona World Race 2014 and 16th at the recent Vendee Glove. Sponsor savvy and consider by many the best communicator in the sport, Conrad is going to be an excellent Brand Ambassador for his partners before, during and after the Vendée Globe. His goal is to be present at the 2020-21 Vendee Globe with a winning boat.

Roland Gaebler and the Foiling World Cup 

Olympian medalist, 10x World Champion and German sailing legend Roland Gaebler is spearheading the development of an innovative Foiling World Cup


If looking for a channel to showcase leading-edge technology while being able to activate your brand among sophisticated audiences in events across the world, Team Gaebler offers an innovative platform to create exciting content and engagement among clients, employees and partners.


EKINOMIOUS supports Team Gaebler on all commercial aspects of their campaigns. Together we managed the local entry at the recent Extreme Sailing Series act in Hamburg.

Miami Stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 

Brought in as Commercial responsible and member of the board six months prior to the two-week long stopover in USA, EKINOMIOUS managed to raise 1.5 Mn USD from local sponsors (private and public) to ensure the operational viability and lastly the success of this event.  


This stopover featured a free to enter race village with amenities for sailing, sports and ocean fans alike. Team bases, experimental pavilions, concerts, kids' regattas, food courts, etc. were a highlight in down-town Miami during May 2012.
