Mike Marqués - Managing Partner

Born in Switzerland and raised in Spain, Guatemala and USA, Mike brings 20 years of international commercial, business development and marketing experience acquired at blue-chip corporations and technology startups in Europe and America.


During the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12, Mike was its Head of Business Development responsible for commercial partnerships on both the teams and on the race side. Once the race started, he took over the Commercial Director role for the Miami Stopover in charge of securing local and national sponsors to ensure the operational viability of the two week long event held in South Florida in May 2012.


Recognizing the untapped marketing potential sophisticated sports could bring to corporations, Mike founded EKINOMIOUS together with Pablo in 2013. In 2014, the digital consultancy was added to its value proposition. Mike manages all commercial and marketing areas of the projects of the venture.

Since 2020, Mike is a lecturer of sports marketing and sponsorships at the Munich Business School. (A recent interview with Mike here).


Mike holds an MBA from INSEAD (France), and a Master of Science in Telecommunication Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain). He speaks fluently Spanish, German and English, and conversational French and Catalan.  


Pablo Díaz Dominguez - Advisory Board

Natural from Santander (Spain), Pablo has 10 years of operational experience acquired at global players like Amazon, Nestle and Dragados, and start-ups like Zencap. He has been responsible to lead and implement strategic projects such as SAP Best Practices in the French, Portuguese and Spanish markets.


Pablo has an extensive sailing experience as he has been an active sailor throughout the last twenty years participating in sailing championships at national and international level. At EKINOMIOUS he oversees the smooth operations and delivery of all our projects, besides being responsible for financial and legal.


Pablo holds an MBA from INSEAD (France), an Industrial Engineering Degree from the University of Cantabria (Spain) and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Nottingham Trent University (UK). He speaks fluently Spanish, English and Italian.
